It’s the season of giving!  If you’re looking to make a difference this holiday season but haven’t yet decided how, we have some suggestions for you.  Here at Lexian, we work with several 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.  We may be biased, but we think they’re definitely worth your consideration as you plan out your year-end charitable giving. 

We’ve divided these organizations into four categories so you can choose the cause that’s most important to you.  Some of the organizations fall into more than one category, so please be sure to take that into account as your read through the lists below.

Children & Youth

  1. Great Bay Rowing
    • Helps make rowing available to local high school students who otherwise would not be able to participate through its junior rower financial aid program.
  2. One World Language School
    • Offers language education programs to children in/after school and in the community.
  3. Oyster River Youth Association
    • Provides local children of all levels of ability with opportunities to participate in sports programs throughout the year.
  4. Zebra Crossings
    • Offers year-round, medically-supervised programs including day camps, overnight activities, etc. to children with chronic health conditions and their families.

Environment & Conservation

  1. Lamprey River Watershed Association
    • Promotes “the restoration, conservation, wise development and use of the natural resources of the Lamprey River,” one of NH’s largest watersheds.
  2. Southeast Land Trust of NH
    • Works “to protect and sustain the significant lands in our communities for clean water, outdoor recreation, fresh food, wildlife, and healthy forests.”

Outdoors & Sports

  1. Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats
    • Helps women get “outdoors to play, explore, learn and grow with other women who share the journey beyond breast cancer” by hosting adventure retreats throughout the year.
  2. Great Bay Rowing
    • Provides opportunities, facilities, equipment, and instruction to novice and experienced rowers in the Seacoast region of NH.
  3. Lamprey River Watershed Association
    • Hosts activities including canoe/kayak outings and trail walks to raise awareness of the Lamprey river’s recreational value and beautiful scenery.
  4. Oyster River Youth Association
    • Provides local children of all levels of ability with opportunities to participate in sports programs throughout the year.

Health

  1. Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats
    • Invites “women of all ages and stages of breast cancer [to] adapt and prevail” through outdoor activities, team building exercises, yoga, and expressive/healing arts.
  2. McGregor Memorial EMS
    • Provides emergency healthcare and education to the NH Seacoast Region with the support of volunteer EMTs and paramedics.
